LHSAA Playoffs: Block beats St. Martin’s

METAIRIE, La. — St. Martin’s Episcopal has been knocked off from the ranks of the undefeated. And not only did Block do that to the Saints Friday night, the Bears also put an abrupt end to their season.

Block was not given much of a chance to pull off the upset of No. 5 seed and undefeated St. Martin’s Episcopal in the regional round of the LHSAA Class 1A Playoffs. Especially considering that Block had to take a 3 1/2-hour drive to Metairie.

But the 12th-seeded Bears did the impossible, rallying from a halftime deficit to stun the Saints 34-26 to advance to the quarterfinals.
