FERRIDAY — Services for Amanda Lewis Edwards, 94, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at her residence, will be at noon Saturday at Doty Road Church of God on Third Street with the Rev. Simeon R. Green III officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Edwards was born Oct. 5, 1917, in Monterey, the daughter of Lucius and Abeline Fisher Lewis. She was a retired beautician, nurse’s aide and childcare provider. She was a member of Doty Road Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie Edwards; one son, Ernest “Ray” Edwards; one son-in-law, Bill Fletcher; one grandson, Reginald Fletcher; five sisters, Lumeta, Pearlie, Melinda, Minerva and Hallie Whitley; and two brothers, Henry James Lewis and Lucius Lewis Jr.

Survivors include four children, Lula Grayson and Willie B. Edwards, both of Ferriday, Sadie Fletcher of Columbia, Md., and Subretta Clay of West Covina, Calif.; one sister, Hazel Spillers; seven grandchildren, Christopher Edwards, Brian Rutherford, Anita Ross and husband, Rodney, Ronald Fletcher, Ricky Fletcher and wife, Melony, Mimi Fletcher and Lionel Scott and wife, Twyla; one grand-daughter-in-law, Priscilla Fletcher; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and church family.
