NATCHEZ — One man has been arrested and another is wanted in connection with an armed robbery on Dumas Drive Friday.

Natchez Interim Police Chief Danny White said the two men are also believed to be connected to a shooting that occurred a short time after the robbery.

White said Richard T. Norman III, 19, 4 Fletcher St., was charged Monday with armed robbery for reportedly robbing a man on Dumas Drive.

The victim reported he was walking down Dumas Drive and flagged down a driver that he knew to ask for a ride.

The man got into the backseat of the vehicle until it came to a stop farther down the road.

Norman, who was sitting in the passenger seat, reportedly got out of the vehicle, pulled out a gun and demanded the man give him all his belongings.

The victim reported that after he gave Norman money and a cell phone, Norman shot the gun at the ground, and he and the driver fled the scene.

White said officers responded to the robbery report at approximately 9:40 p.m. Officers were also dispatched to Natchez Regional Medical Center around the same time to get a report from a shooting victim.

The man shot, Guy Anthony Allen, 21, 192 St Catherine St., was released from the hospital and later admitted to being the driver of the vehicle used in the robbery.

White said the department is investigating the connection between the shooting and the robbery.

A warrant has been issued for Allen’s arrest for the robbery, and no bond has been set for Norman.

Anyone with information about either of the incidents or on the whereabouts of Allen should call NPD at 601-445-5565 or Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000.
