NATCHEZ — Services for Rowan Moody Beach, 71, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Walton Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Beach was born March 18, 1940, in Natchez, the daughter of Monroe Jackson Moody Sr. and Mary Haralson Moody. From an early age Rowan loved history, art and above all, classical music and as anyone who knew her can attest, they were lifelong passions.

After graduating from Natchez High School, she attended the University of Southern Mississippi and majored in history. While at USM, she was a member of Phi Gamma Mu, National Social Science Honor Society and Phi Alpha Theta, National History Society. After graduation, Rowan taught junior high school for the Jefferson County school district for one year, after which, she taught for Adams County school district for eight years. She resigned to raise her family.

Mrs. Beach was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Pilgrimage Garden Club, the Audubon Society, Natchez Little Theatre and the Natchez Humane Society.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Jerry D. Beach; one son, J. Peirce Beach; one daughter-in-law, Lacey; one grandson, Addison Peirce Beach; and two brothers, John H. Moody and Allison F. Moody.

Memorials may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, the Natchez Humane Society or the Natchez Children’s Home.
