GLOSTER — Services for Joe L. Jackson, 76, a native and longtime resident of Amite County, who died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Gloster with the Rev. Ernest Whittington and the Rev. Stan Weatherford officiating.
Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery in Liberty with Bro. Alton Foster officiating, under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the start of service at the funeral home chapel.
Mr. Jackson was born on July 6, 1935, in Amite County to Wallace Alton Jackson and Geneva Harvey Jackson. He was an alumnus of Mississippi State University and worked as a beef cattleman all of his life. He was a longtime board member of Amite County Soil and Water Conservation Board and Amite County Farm Services Board.
He was a devoted husband, father and friend. Mr. Jackson was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church and an active deacon for 46 years. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 49 years, Pat Wall Jackson; two daughters, Terri Binns and husband Michael of Cordova, Tenn., and Kim Hathcock and husband Chuck of Oakland; one son, Timothy Jackson and wife Kelli of Houston; two grandchildren, Ashlee and Zach Hathcock; one sister, Maudie Dixon and husband James of Gloster; one brother-in-law, Donald Wall of Ridgeland and numerous other relatives and friends
Pallbearers will be Tommy Spiers, Jennings Freeman, Greg Wilkinson, Jerry Toler, Ernest Herndon and Gary Van Norman.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the men’s Sunday school class at Enterprise Baptist Church and Mike Bridwell.
