MEADVILLE — Services for Hollis Bass, 93, of Meadville, who died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at his residence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Eddiceton Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Bass was born Jan. 28, 1918, in Franklin County, the son of John Bass and Meda Rushing Bass. He was a retired carpenter and a World War II veteran.
Mr. Bass was a member of Middleton Creek Primitive Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys Terrell Bass; and three brothers.
Survivors include three sons, Charles “Bull” Bass and his wife of McComb, Rusty Bass and his wife of Bude and Ricky Bass and his wife of Lucien; two daughters, Martha Smallwood and her husband of Meadville and Mary Russell and her husband of Lucien; seven grandchildren, Courtney Biggs, Kelly Matthews, Wade Bass, John Russell, Jessica Grice, Joe Russell and Colby Bass; three great-grandchildren, Lane and Anna Grace Biggs and Jeremiah Smallwood; and one sister, Mildred Jackson.
