NATCHEZ — Allegations of inappropriate contact between a Natchez-Adams School District employee and a student are being investigated.
Sixth District District Attorney Ronnie Harper said the NASD filed a report with his office about the alleged incident.
The NASD took the proper statutory steps in notifying him, he said, but because the incident reportedly happened outside the Sixth Judicial District, Harper had to refer the case to the proper law enforcement agency.
Authorities in Simpson County, where the incident was alleged to have happened, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
NASD Interim Superintendent Joyce Johnson said the incident is under investigation.
All NASD employees are trained and required to adhere to state and district policies regarding the protection of children, Johnson said.
