Time for a breather and good news

After a busy fall and Christmas season, the slowness of January is always welcomed.

The last week was a relaxing one in the Miss-Lou, with few major events, but still plenty of positive moves.

Let’s recap the first week of 2012 and see exactly where we may be headed.

– A new board of supervisors took the helm in Adams County, vowing to work together and start the year off right. We continue to be excited by the optimism and spirit of cooperation this group has brought to the table.

–  The Natchez-Adams County Airport has received a $120,000 Federal Aviation Administration grant to replace the lighting in its taxiway guidance signs.

We are glad that our airport is making improvements without taxing the local governments.

– Hannah Jackson, a seventh-grade student at Robert Lewis Middle School, has been chosen to attend the National Young Leaders State Conference. Jackson works hard in school and has earned this great opportunity.

– The local chapter of Delta Sigma Theta is thinking healthy in the new year. The sorority sponsored a free Zumba class Saturday. The active fitness program got participants moving. A continued focus on healthy living in our community means brighter days are ahead.

Hopefully the next few weeks will be as relaxing as the first week of the year has been. We could all use a breather before a busy spring arrives.
