NATCHEZ — Services for Lizzie C. “Beth” French, 84, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Glenburney Nursing Home, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday, both at the funeral home.
Mrs. French was born May 16, 1927, in Franklin Parish, La., the daughter of William Cobb and Letha Rushing Cobb. She was a charter member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church.
Mrs. French was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tommie O. French Sr.; and one son, Estus E. “Gene” Upton.
Survivors include one son, Tommie O. French Jr. and wife, Terri, of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Teri Sanders and husband, Tommy, of Natchez; 10 grandchildren, Monica Smith of Vidalia, Jay Sanders, Jeremy Sanders, both of Natchez, Tyler French, Taylor French, both of Baton Rouge, Gene “Brother” Upton, Renee Fortenberry, Jim Upton, Wayne Upton and Wade Upton, all of Jackson; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jay Sanders, Jeremy Sanders, Tyler French, Gene “Brother” Upton, Wayne Upton, Wade Upton, Jim Upton and Corey Upton.
The family thanks the staff of Glenburney Nursing Home for caring for Beth during her long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. They also thank Hospice Compassus and Dr. Charles Borum.
