Last week had good news for Miss-Lou

Odds are, in these parts, your team lost last week. And we know that clouds your judgment when grading the week.
But sports are just for fun — and money — so relax and remember there’s always next year.
The week that brought losses for two major Louisiana teams also brought plenty of good news in the Miss-Lou.
Let’s focus on the positive.
4 Concordia Parish administrators are moving ahead with a plan to pursue a magnet school in the parish. The final OK hasn’t come yet, but we are happy to district is considering new ways to educate children.
4 Robert Lewis Middle School student Destinee Schoby has a bright future ahead, perhaps in the field of law. Though young, Destinee has already outlined a plan for her life. Her achievements were recognized this fall when she was invited and attended the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in October. Congratulations Destinee.
4 Dunleith Plantation and the National Park Service worked together last week to avoid flushing a little local history.
Privately owned Dunleith is planning renovations, so NPS experts came in to remove a 1850s bathroom from the site. NPS is hopeful that the bathroom can become a part of antebellum Melrose, which is part of the Natchez National Historical Park.
As we begin a new week — and turn our attention to basketball season — we know great things are ahead.
