NATCHEZ — Services for Alicia Washington Ellis, 88, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at her residence, will be at noon Saturday at Southwood Lodge Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Cusic officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Adams County, the daughter of Eddie Washington and Melvine Cage. She was raised by Charlie and Ellen White.
Mrs. Ellis was a member of Southwood Lodge Baptist Church. She was a retired dietitian with Adams County public school system.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Hubert Ellis Sr.; two sons, Charles Ellis Jr. and Quinton Ellis; 11 siblings; and stepmother, Estelle Malone Washington.
Survivors include five children, Betty Jean Abram and husband, Steve, of Seattle, Wash., Geraldine Ellis Sewell and Joseph Ellis, both of Natchez, Larry Ellis and wife, Liz, of Houston, Texas and Glen D. Ellis of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nathaniel Washington and wife, Beatrice, and Dan Washington Sr. and wife, Sue Willie; five sisters, Velma Nelson and husband, Lennox, and Elma Washington, all of Natchez, Shirley Brown and Eddie O’Deal Fletcher, both of Cranfield, and Dorothy Coleman and husband, Lonnie, of Rolling Fork; one brother-in-law, Clarence Brown; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
