NATCHEZ — A Natchez Trails Project sidewalk marker is missing from South Broadway Street.
Natchez City Engineer David Gardner said the city reported the panel stolen to the Natchez Police Department. He said he is not sure how the panel was taken, but he said it could have been struck by a car and then stolen.
“We have no clue,” he said.
The panel, which was placed in the 800 block of South Broadway Street, will cost approximately $1,000 to replace, Gardner said.
The replacement panel, Gardner said, will be included in the order for the panels for the second phase of the project. He said the order should be placed sometime in the next three or four weeks and could be replaced in the next few months.
