NATCHEZ — Memorial services for Paula Parker “Polly” Pugh, 61, who died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, following a 14-month battle with lung cancer, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Walton Jones officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday in Kuehnle Hall at the church.

Mrs. Pugh was born Feb. 13, 1950, the daughter of Robert Hicks Parker Jr. and Juanita Brumfield Parker. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Woodlands, Texas. She was a previous member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez where she was baptized.

Polly attended Mississippi State University where she earned a bachelor of science degree in general business and a bachelor of science in accounting. While at Mississippi State, she was active in campus life that included a membership in Chi Omega Sorority.

Through the years she committed her time to a number of organizations that included chairman of the Noxubee County Republican Women, Natchez Pilgrimage Garden Club and served on the board of the Harbour Town Home Owner’s Association. She was the finance director for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department in Montgomery County, Texas.

Polly had a passion for cooking, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Edna Juanita “Dootsie” Murphy.

Survivors include three children, Jack J. Pugh IV and wife, Lana, of Macon, Carrie Pugh of Conroe, Texas and Parker Pugh and wife, Kristin, of Ocean Springs; two sisters, Lil Parker Graning and husband, Chick, of Natchez and Deborah Parker Calandro and husband, Blaise, of Baton Rouge; one brother-in-law, Wayne Murphy Sr. of Natchez; and a special friend, Odis Nolte of Conroe.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests that donations be kindly considered in Polly’s name to the Lung Cancer Alliance, P.O. Box 418372, Boston MA 02241-8372 or to a charity of choice.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to those who gave loving and compassionate care to Polly in her final illness.
