VIDALIA — Louisiana State Police say they suspect alcohol may have been a factor in a Monday night vehicle accident that killed a Vidalia woman.

Carolyn M. Williams, 42, was traveling eastbound on Louisiana 3180 near the Mobil Station off of Carter Street when she lost control of her vehicle and exited the right side of the roadway, Louisiana State Police Public Information Officer Daniel Scott Moreau said in a press release.

After getting off the road, Williams overcorrected her vehicle, reentered the roadway and exited the left side before the vehicle flipped over in a field near the highway.

Williams was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from her vehicle, Moreau said.

She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Routine toxicology tests are pending, Moreau said.

The crash remains under investigation.
