VIDALIA — Concordians will hit the red carpet Thursday as the Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual awards dinner and celebration.

The event is from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center and will feature guest of honor 2009 New Orleans Saints Superbowl winner Deuce McAllister.

A general reception will kick off the event at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the announcement of the winners of the awards.

Jamie K. Wiley, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce, said she is anticipating a great turnout and is appreciative of a supportive community.

“We just appreciate all of their support,” Wiley said. “We couldn’t do what we do without the support of the people.”

The categories for the awards include business of the year, businessperson of the year, chamber volunteer, educator of the year and Concordian of the Year.

“The nominations we got this year were phenomenal,” Wiley said. “We’re looking forward to recognizing the people that go out of their way to help and give back to our community.”

The event will also feature a silent and live auction for prizes donated by area businesses like a trip to New Orleans and tailgating packages, Wiley said.

Restaurants from around the area will be preparing food for the dinner.

Wiley said tickets are still available but are in limited supply.

The cost for individual reception and dinner for chamber members is $40 and non-chamber members is $50.

Attendees can also purchase sponsorship tickets anywhere from reception sponsorship for two seats to platinum sponsorship for eight seats and an exclusive V.I.P all-access pass to join McAllister for 5:30 p.m. cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

The event requires cocktail attire.
