NATCHEZ — Services for Sarah Rebecca Ramsey Parker, 85, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012, will be at 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Johnson, Bro. Ernest Oliver and Bro. Jerry Brady officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Parker was born Oct. 22, 1926, in Harmon, Ark., the daughter of James Travis Ramsey and Mary Chrystal Cardwell Ramsey. She moved with her family to Vidalia, Calif., where she met her husband, Charles Parker. In 1963, they moved their family to Franklin Parish, La., where they pastored several churches. She returned to California to care for her elderly mother and later moved back to Natchez to be with her children. She loved the Lord and believed in holiness.

Mrs. Parker was gifted in expressions through art and writings and was a wonderful teacher. Her family was her heart and her smile lit up any room she entered. She was a unique mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Welch and husband, Adam, and Denise Roberts and husband, Red; one son, Greg Parker and wife, Cynthia; six grandchildren, Lance Parker and wife, Erica, Crystal Parker Hitt and husband, Larry, Boitni Welch, Amanda Welch Lewis and husband, Derek, Sara Welch Elder and husband, Randal, and Ryan Welch and wife, Ashley; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Travis Ramsey and wife, Candace, of Visalia, Calif.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Welch, Larry Hitt, Lance Parker, Randall Elder, Johnny Frank and Dale Jackson.

The family extends special recognition to Crown Health and Rehab for the care of our mother until her passing.
