FERRIDAY — Services for Ethel Louis Cowan, 81, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at The Pentecostals of Miss Lou with the Rev. Gary Howington officiating.

Burial will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Mrs. Cowan was born May 27, 1930, in San Spring, Okla., the daughter of James William Watkins and Nettie Bridget Watkins.

Mrs. Cowan was a greeter at Walmart for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Pentecostals of the Miss Lou.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Delores Adams and Patricia Ann Cowan; three sisters, Gladys Johnson, Geneva Jones and Faye Meadows; two brothers, Orville Watkins and J.R. Watkins; and one great-great-grandson, Jayden Martin.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Carl H. “Jack” Cowan; one son, James G. Cowan of Ferriday; two daughters, Ethel Free and husband, Jim, of Jonesville and Billie Ruth Lofton of Ferriday; twin sister, Bethel “Dot” Lucas of Spring, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Gardner, Mark Gardner, James Bradley Cowan, Stanley Malcomb, Brandon Cupstid, Bill Sanford and Brett Harvey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Cavin and Jerry Glenn McEntrye.
