NEW IBERIA, La. — Services for Gloria Lasserre Parker, 89, of Atlanta, formerly of Vidalia, who died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in Atlanta, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Langlois officiating.

Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time Friday with a Rosary at 10 a.m. at the church.

Mrs. Parker was born Feb. 10, 1922, in New Iberia, the daughter of Octave John Lasserre and Eunice Feignant Lasserre.

Gloria and her husband Neil lived in New Iberia until Neil’s job took him to Natchez. They lived in Vidalia until Neil’s death in 1974. Gloria moved back to New Iberia and worked for the City of New Iberia in the mayor’s office from June 1975, until she retired in January 1998. Gloria moved to Stone Mountain, Ga., to live with her daughter and son-in-law after Hurricane Katrina and lived in Atlanta until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Neil Parker.

Survivors include one daughter, Neilanne Parker Lange and husband, Jim, of Stone Mountain; one granddaughter, Courtney Lange of Baton Rouge; and one grandson, Craig Lange of Atlanta.

Pallbearers will be Burton E. Cestia Jr., Harry Cestia, Jim Lange, Craig Lange, Marion Courtois and Billie Gesser.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Gloria’s name.
