•The 2012–2013 school calendar was approved.

Director of Academic Programs Dr. Paul Nelson said the main changes to the calendar involved scheduling days off during voting days for the presidential election, which is required by Louisiana law. Several of the district’s schools serve as polling places.

School will begin on Friday Aug. 10, 2012 and end Thursday May 23, 2013.

•Former superintendent James E. Lee gave a presentation asking the board to fulfill a motion made by a previous board to honor the previous and current superintendents by displaying their portraits on the wall in the building.

“I want to be remembered and honored for the work,” Lee said. “I’m here asking you to embrace that decision made by the earlier board to display the photos of the past and present superintendent.”

Raymond T. Riley and several other board members said they felt the matter had just been overlooked, but that they would see that the portrait gets put up on the wall.
