NATCHEZ — Services for Mary Theresa Eidt Davis, 97, of Opelika, Ala., formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at Northridge SCALF and Assisted Living, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Basilica with the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Davis was born Oct. 16, 1914, in Natchez where she lived for 93 years. She was the daughter of Duncan J. Eidt Sr. and Ida Eidt. She was a member of St. Mary Basilica and was an active member of St. Mary Ladies Auxiliary of Alter Society.

Mrs. Davis attended St. Mary Grammar School, St. Joseph’s School and graduated from Natchez High School in 1932. She was employed by City Bank, Tom L. Ketchings, Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and R.F. Learead.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Raymond T. Davis Sr.; one son, Kenneth F. Davis; three sisters, Agnes Derdeyn, Gertrude Perrault and Cecelia Sues; three brothers, Duncan Eidt Jr., Robert “Denger” Eidt and Clarence Eidt; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Survivors include one son, Ray Davis Jr. and wife, Pam, of Opelika; one daughter-in-law, Susan Davis of Natchez; four grandchildren, Angela Eljiche and husband, Malek, of Atlanta, Tripp Davis and wife, Shelly, of Opelika, Dara Wiedman and husband, Wade, of Baton Rouge and Alyson Davis of New Orleans; seven great-grandchildren, Zak and Aiden Eljiche of Atlanta, Avery and Brantley Davis of Opelika, Cole, Cullin and Davis Wiedman of Baton Rouge; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Northridge SCALF and Vista Care Hospice for the loving care given their loved one.
