NATCHEZ — A Natchez man is behind bars on charges he burst into a residence and held a knife to a woman’s throat.
Richard Douglas Felter, 32, 82 Deer Lake Road, was arrested Tuesday on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault. He is also charged with contempt of court for failure to comply.
The incident reportedly happened Feb. 11. According to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, at 9:25 p.m. that day deputies responded to a call from a female resident of 25 Cloverdale Drive about an armed robbery.
The victim alleged Felter entered her residence by reaching through a window taped with cardboard. The victim said when Felter entered the house, he allegedly grabbed a cell phone from her as she was trying to call 911 and broke the phone, according to the ACSO spokesperson.
The victim then alleges that Felter grabbed a knife and held it at her throat, stating he would kill her, the spokesperson said.
Felter then allegedly made the victim give him her purse, and he took $100 from it.
According to the ACSO spokesperson, Felter had been living at the Cloverdale Drive address for the three weeks leading up to the incident. Earlier in the day on Feb. 11, however, Felter had contacted the ACSO alleging that the victim and the other residents of the house had stolen $100 from him.
Felter was detained without bond Thursday.
