KIRBY — Services for Aletha Mae Hankins Hunt, 68, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Luther Bonds Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Hunt Cemetery in Roxie under the direction of Tyler Funeral Home Inc., in Brookhaven.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Hunt was born Aug. 31, 1943, the daughter of Walter and Carrie Mae Hankins. She was a 1961 graduate of Lillie Mae Bryant High School. She furthered her education at Alcorn A&M College receiving her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Upon graduating from Alcorn, she began teaching in the Franklin County school district. She taught school for 28 faithful years before retiring.

She attended New Fork United Methodist Church and was baptized there at an early age. She later joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary and a member of the choir for a number of years.

Mrs. Hunt was Past Grand Matron of Adah Grand Chapter and Past Matron of Mount Olive Chapter No. 9 in the Order of Eastern Star.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Curtis Ray Hunt Sr. To this union four children were born.

Mrs. Hunt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Irma Pearl Gant.

Survivors to cherish her memories include one son, Curtis Ray Hunt Jr. of Columbus, Ga.; three daughters, Veronica Michelle Jackson of Columbus, Lisa Linette Hunt and Carrie Elaine Hunt, both of Roxie; one sister, Gwendolyn Seymour and husband, David, of Gulfport; one brother, Jerry Hankins and wife, Nell, of Orange, N.J.; six brothers-in-law, B.J. Hunt and wife, Lillie Mae, Percy Lee Hunt and wife, Annie Lou, Hollis Hunt and wife, Clara, Robert Lee Hunt and wife, Ester, all of Roxie, William Davis and George Gant Sr., both of Meadville; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
