FAYETTE — Services for Ki’ara LaTroya Short, 21, of Fayette, who died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, will be at 11 a.m. today at Jefferson County High School in Fayette with the Rev. Kemp Burley Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Poplar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Fayette.

Ki’ara was born Jan. 20, 1991, in Natchez, the daughter of Troy Chambliss and Angela Short. She accepted Christ at the age of 11 and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 2009. On Oct. 23, 2010, she became the proud mother of a precious baby girl, Kaliah “Lee Lee” Dyer. Ki’ara was engaged to marry Garyck Hayes.

Ki’ara loved to draw and created many beautiful pictures. She also loved to do hair. She was a junior at Alcorn State University and her goal was to become a teacher. The greatest loves in her life were her daughter, her proud parents, siblings and fiance. Daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, fiancee, cousin, friend, all these words describe the precious gift called Ki’ara LaTroya Short.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Roosevelt and Zadie Patterson; maternal grandfather, James Short, paternal grandparents, Lula Lee Chambliss and George Williams; and one paternal great uncle who departed ths life a few short hours after Ki’ara.

Survivors include her daughter, Kaliah Dyer; mother and father; stepmother, Keisha Chambliss; fiance, Garyck Hayes; one sister, Krysta Gamble of Fayette; five brothers, Kawaski Short, Traveon Donaldson and Troy Chambliss Jr., all of Fayette, Javontrics Murphy of Natchez and Trikaric Foster of Port Gibson; one stepbrother, Kishaun Woods of Fayette; grandmother, Shirley Green of Fayette; great-grandmother, Florine Short; eight uncles, Javon Green of Fayette, Marvenius Patterson and wife, Sharon, of Houston, Alfred Chambliss and wife, Carol, Larry Chambliss and wife, Ann, and Jerome Chambliss and wife, Yalonda, all of Fayette, Timothy Louis Murry of Mexico, Marvin Malone and wife, Natasha, of Decatur, Ga., and Michael Chambliss and wife, Tawanna, of Atlanta; six aunts, Jackie Reynolds and husband, David, Shaerrecca Short and Antionette Green, all of Fayette, Kishua Ellis of Vicksburg, Linda and Nicola Chambliss of Fayette; four special cousins, Makayla Williams, Carmin Green, Zadaisha and Zadrian Carter, all of Fayette; godparents, Willie and Cynthia Cruel of New Orleans; godsister, Dekia Jenkins of New Orleans; two godbrothers, Willie Cruel Jr. and Garland Cruel of New Orleans; one great-great-aunt; 10 great aunts; four great uncles; and a number of other relatives and friends.
