NATCHEZ — Services for Leonard D. Jackson Jr., 26, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Hospice Ministry in Ridgeland, will be at noon Tuesday at New Beginning Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Colenburg officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery in Kingston under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Leonard was born Feb. 28, 1986, in Natchez, the son of Leonard D. Jackson Sr. and Linda Sue Jones Jackson. He was a 2004 graduate of North Natchez High School and a 2009 graduate of Tougaloo College. He was employed by Natchez-Adams School District as an educator.
Leonard was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Henry Jackson and his grandmother, Marguerite Jones.
Survivors include his mother of Natchez; his father and stepmother, Deborah, of Roxie; paternal grandmother, Ruby Jackson, of Natchez; grandfather, James Mike Jones of Natchez; three sisters, LaShanda Brown and husband, Dewayne, of Natchez, Ivie McCoy of Roxie and Kimberly Jackson of Atlanta; one niece, LaBria Brown; one nephew, Brandon Washington; six uncles; eight aunts; two godbrothers, Xavier “Nook” Logan of Texas and James King of Roxie; five godsisters, Crystal Conrad, Melinda Jones Pinder and Kirstern Hickinbottom, all of Natchez, Chasity Jones of Vidalia and Melissa Jones Bates of Texas; godfather, James F. Jones; and godmother, Clarena Jones, both of Natchez.
Pallbearers will be Craig Jackson Jr., Jerry Jackson, Craig Holmes, Greg Holmes, Kenneth Fitzgerald and Michael Hunt.
Honorary pallbearers Kappa fraternity members, uncles and band members.
