Centreville sweeps Oak Forest in DH

AMITE, La. — Centreville Academy, the No. 1 team in Class AA, made quick work of MAIS District 6-AA opponent Oak Forest Academy in a varsity doubleheader Friday night as the Tigers roared past the Yellow Jackets 15-0 and 13-1 with each game lasting just four innings.
Game 1 winning pitcher Cliff Hurst allowed just two hits and struck out two in four innings and hit a home run. Tyler Towles led Centreville’s 15-hit barrage by going 3-for-3 with a double and a home run. The Tigers scored nine runs in the top of the second inning to break the game wide open.
In Game 2, Corey Gaulden picked up the win on the mound as he allowed one run on one hit, walked four and struck out three in three innings. Randy Bell pitched the fourth inning for the Tigers. Hunter Travis and Hunter Devall each went 2-for-2 with a double while both Bell and Towles hit home runs with Towles’ being a grand slam. Centreville (10-0, 3-0) hosts Trinity Episcopal next Monday with the junior varsity game at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Monterey goes 2-0 at Grace Christian

ALEXANDRIA, La. — The Monterey Wolves won their two games Friday at the Grace Christian Baseball Tournament, first defeating the St. Joseph’s Eagles from Plaucheville, La., 13-1 and then taking care of the Evans Eagles 19-5.
Both games lasted just five innings. Ashton Holland was the winning pitcher for Monterey in its win over St. Joseph’s and Hayden Cassels got the win in the victory over Evans.
Monterey (7-4) plays host to Georgetown next Monday at 4 p.m.
Ben’s Ford 14, WCCA 3
WOODVILLE — The Ben’s Ford Christian School Eagles defeated the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams Friday night to drop WCCA’s overall record to 1-5.
WCCA was scheduled to play at Franklin Academy this afternoon, but that has been cancelled. The Rams’ next game will be at Adams County Christian School next Monday at 7 p.m.
