MANIFEST, La. — Services for Clarence Walter Pentecost Jr., 82, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, March 15, 2012, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pisgah Baptist Church in Manifest, La., with the Rev. Emile Bordelon, the Rev. Mark Johnson and the Rev. Mack Walker officiating.

Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest under the direction of Kinner and Stevens Funeral Home in Jena, La.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the church.

Mr. Pentecost was born June 18, 1929, in Jena, the son of Clarence Walter Pentecost Sr. and Lizzie Fannie Wright Pentecost. He was a retired logger and was still commissioned as a deputy of the Catahoula Sheriff’s Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jerry Glen Pentecost; and infant sister; and one brother-in-law, Perry McMillin.

Survivors include his wife of 61 and one half years, Ruth Cotten Pentecost; one daughter, Connie Masters and husband, Jerry, of Jena; two sons, Gary Pentecost and wife, Pam Meyers Pentecost, of Manifest, La., and Jeff Pentecost and wife, Ann Ogden Pentecost, of Harrisonburg, La.; one sister, Lois Pentecost McMillin; two brothers, Huey Pentecost and wife, Sudie, of West Monroe, La., and Charles Ray Pentecost and wife, Mary, of Manifest; nine grandchildren, Kevin Doughty and wife, Susie, Chris Doughty and wife, Michelle, Kerri Wright and husband, Jason, Trish Scott and husband, Jason, Josh Pentecost and wife, Jenny, Sparky Pentecost and wife, Amber, Brad Pentecost and wife, Jessi, Jill May and husband, Corey, and Jenna Pentecost; 15 great-grandchildren, Jake, Wesley, Samatha, Charlie, Bailey, Luke, Devin, Colby, Dakota, Cayden, Morgan, J.J., Jacob, Pami Rae and Trevor; special brother-in-law, Lonnie Cotten; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin Doughty, Chris Doughty, Jason Wright, Jason Scott, Josh Pentecost, Sparky Pentecost, Brad Pentecost and Cory May.

Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren.
