FERRIDAY — Services for James G. Sturgis Sr., 39, of Ridgecrest, who died Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Roxie, will be at 10 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday with the Rev. Paul Southerland officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

James was born Nov. 15, 1972, in Natchez. He was employed by Natchez Heating and Cooling as an electrician.

James was a loving father, an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Jamelle Sturgis; paternal grandfather, Homer Jamelle Sturgis; step-grandfather, Dr. Jessie M. Young; and maternal grandparents, Dewey and Maudie Clark.

Survivors include one son, James Gayle Sturgis Jr.; two daughters, Stephanie Leanne Sturgis and Jonna Aline “Ali” Sturgis; his mother, Linda Young and her husband, Howard; two sisters, Sandra Sprinkle and husband, Travis, and Veronica Boren and husband, Jim; maternal grandmother, Annie Mae Sturgis; and step-grandmother, Nancy Young.

Pallbearers will be James Gayle “Jay” Sturgis Jr., Doug Gillespie, Joshua Brewer, Aaron Sutton, James McPhate and Trey Brasher.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Ola, Jim Boren, Matt Mulvihill, Howard Young and Jim Thorpe.
