Trinity has offensive explosion in win at Riverfield

RAYVILLE, La. — The Trinity Episcopal baseball team pounded out 15 hits and got help from Riverfield Academy’s eight errors to secure a 14-8 victory Thursday night.
Andrew Moroney, Sky Logan and Jared Hedrick each tallied three hits a piece for the Saints, who improved to 3-3 on the season.
Two of Moroney’s hits were doubles, and Logan added a double of his own. Jake Winston also homered in the contest.
Daniel Dunaway went four innings and allowed five runs to get the win for Trinity.
The Saints will play again Saturday against Madison-Ridgeland Academy.
Cathedral softball 10, West Lincoln 0
BROOKHAVEN — Mollie Devening pitched five scoreless frames for the Cathedral School softball team Thursday night as the Lady Green Wave cruised to a 10-0 victory.
Ginny Daggett and Beth Fortenbery each had two hits and one double in the game to lead the Cathedral offense. Laura Ellett also added two hits.
The win improved Cathedral to 7-4-1 on the season and gave the team a win in its first district game. The Lady Green Wave will face Loyd Star today.
Caldwell softball 5, Vidalia 3
COLUMBIA, La. — Four errors hurt the Vidalia High School softball team Thursday night, and the Lady Vikings fell 5-3 to Caldwell Parish.
Taylor Rodgers and Kelsee Partridge kept Vidalia in the game with two hits each, and Vidalia ended up with eight hits on the night but was unable to score enough runs to gain a lead in the game.
The loss dropped the Lady Vikings to 11-9 on the year. They will start action in the Vidalia Tournament today.
