Baseball roundups: ACCS wins big vs. WCCA

WOODVILLE — Adams County Christian School scored seven runs to start off the game as the third-ranked team in MAIS Class AA cruised to an 18-5 win over Wilkinson County Christian Academy Monday afternoon.

By the time the top of the third inning was over, the Rebels enjoyed a comfortable 12-0 lead before the Rams got on the scoreboard with two runs in the bottom of the third. ACCS then scored six more runs in the top of the fourth inning while WCCA was unable to keep the game going despite scoring three runs.

Tanner Martin got the win after allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in three innings. Martin helped his own cause by going 2-for-2 at the plate and Chris Carrell led the Rebels’ 12-hit attack by going 3-for-4 with a double.

Austin Goodfellow had a double, Keith Skinner was 2-for-2 and H. Holden went 2-for-3 to lead WCCA.

ACCS (12-4-1) hosts MAIS District 5-AA opponent Columbia Academy today with the junior varsity game at 5 p.m. and the varsity game set for 7 p.m. WCCA plays at District 6-A rival Tallulah Academy today with the JV game at 4:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.

Franklin Academy at Tensas Academy canceled

ST. JOSEPH, La. — Tensas Academy head coach Curt Leake cited health concerns with his team as the reason Monday’s game couldn’t be played.

“We have some health issues on our team and their coach (Chris Sullivan) understood so they backed out,” Chiefs head coach Curt Leake said.

Tensas Academy (1-7, 1-1) will play at MAIS District 6-A foe Amite School Center today at 5 p.m.
