BROOKHAVEN — Services for Louis “Tuck” Byrd, 94, of Brookhaven, who died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Brookhaven.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven.

Mr. Byrd was born July 28, 1917, the son of James Monroe Byrd and Beulah Herring Byrd. He was in the timber business and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys Watts Byrd; and three brothers, William Byrd, Clinton Byrd and Charles Byrd.

Survivors include two sons, Cortez Byrd and wife, Barbara, of Brookhaven and Bruce Byrd and wife, Mary Davis, of Wesson; six grandchildren, Terry Byrd and wife, Liz, Tonya Stewart and husband, Gary, all of Brookhaven, Patricia Carter of Bradenton, Fla., Pamela King of Wesson, Sophie Adam and husband, Timmy, of Wiggins and Sissy Martin of Mandeville, La.; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two caregivers, Irene Calcote and Thelma Calcote.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund and a hospice of choice.
