The past week was surely jam-packed with news, good, bad and indifferent.
Plenty of big headlines gave us positive vibes, so let’s focus on those for today.
– Construction on the Will Haney Ferriday Music Hall in Ferriday is nearing completion. Once open, the building will serve as a gathering place for local and visiting musicians and our community.
– Cathedral School announced plans to revamp and add to its campus. Construction projects at one of our area’s oldest schools is a good indicator of community vitality. Growth of any kind is good, especially when it affects the future of our children.
– Ferriday High School sophomore Cailyn Glen is planning for college already. He has already performed well on the ACT and has plenty of time to improve his score. He has goals — studying physical therapy at LSU — and certainly a bright future.
– A new industry — KiOR — announced plans to locate in Adams County, creating up to 300 direct and indirect jobs.
– Concordia Parish is home to many great things that are great in scope. But an unusual item was added to the list recently. Privately owned land near Clayton contains a tree labeled by the American Forests as a champion. It’s 140-feet tall and 19-feet round.
April has arrived, and Easter is upon us. Use the coming week to enjoy not only your many blessings but also your great community.
