NATCHEZ — A late-night accident involving three 18-wheeler trucks left traffic partially blocked on John R. Junkin Drive and one truck driver with possible injuries Monday night.
An 18-wheeler slammed into the back of a second truck hauling two trailers sending the second truck into the side of a third truck just after midnight. The accident occurred as the trucks were traveling south on John R. Junkin Drive at the traffic light at the intersection of John R. Junkin Drive, Lower Woodville Road and Homochitto Street.
One of the truck drivers said at the scene that none of the drivers were injured. But the driver of the first truck, which sustained the most damage with the front end almost entirely smashed, was strapped to a stretcher and transported by ambulance for medical treatment.
Natchez Police Capt. Tom McGehee said Tuesday afternoon that the accident report had not yet been turned in by the responding patrol officers. He said he did not know the status of the injuries to the driver of the first truck.
