ST. JOSEPH — Andy Morris held Tensas Academy to just four hits and struck out seven batters for Amite School Center Thursday night.
Aaron Toler and Brandon Terrell helped Morris out at the plate with two doubles each as ASC defeated Tensas Academy 17-0 Tuesday afternoon to win the MAIS District 6-A championship.
ASC finished with 14 hits and took advantage of four Tensas Academy errors. Toler went 2-for-3 while Terrell and Tyler Gressett each went 2-for-4. Will Cruise added a triple. The Rebels used a couple of six-run innings to end the game in just five innings.
David Leake was charged with the loss. Tensas Academy (2-9, 2-2) hosts Wilkinson County Christian Academy with second place in the district at stake next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
St. Mary’s 22, Block 1
NATCHITOCHES, La. — Thanks to a pair of eight-run innings, the St. Mary’s Tigers defeated the Block Bears in just five innings Thursday afternoon in LHSAA District 4-1A action.
Dylan Mayo took the loss for Block. The Bears had just one hit and committed eight errors while the Tigers finished with 15 hits and had just two errors.
Block (4-13, 0-3) hosts Montgomery on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Monterey 17, Harrisonburg 0
MONTEREY — Monterey needed just five innings to defeat the Harrisonburg Bulldogs Thursday afternoon. Hunter Frey was the winning pitcher.
Monterey (11-6) plays host to Grace Christian for an LHSAA District 4-B game next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
