NATCHEZ — Natchez Community Hospital is being headed by two interim Chief Executive Officers while the hospital’s parent company looks for someone to permanently fill the position.

Former CEO Donny Rentfro resigned his position with the hospital in March, said Kace Ragan, the southern division marketing and communication manger for Health Management Associates.

While the company searches for a replacement, Eric Robinson will serve as an interim CEO in the short term, Ragan said.

“(Robinson) hasn’t been there very long and will not be there for a long period of time,” Ragan said. “He is from the hospital in Biloxi, and he is filling in.”

“That’s what our sister hospitals do when we are short (staffed). We can rely on them to send in some support.”

The second person filling in as CEO is Division 4 Vice President Tim Mitchell.

“He and Eric are working together to ensure that the hospital is running as smoothly as possible as the company is looking at finding a permanent placement,” Ragan said.

HMA has not set a timeline for the hire of a permanent CEO.

“We are looking for the right person who can come in there and be a part of the Natchez community and keep that hospital doing the great things that it is,” Ragan said.

“We want to get the right candidate, the right fit, for the hospital and the community, and we are actively looking for them.

“As soon as we find him or her, we will put them in place as soon as we can.”

Until then, she said, “The hospital is certainly not left adrift.”

Rentfro was hired in January 2010.
