Frazier running for Ward 2 alderman

NATCHEZ — Billie Joe Frazier recently announced his candidacy for alderman of Ward 2 in the upcoming municipal election.

He is a lifelong resident of Natchez and Adams County.

He worked his way up through the ranks of the Natchez Police Department with 32 years of service. He retired as lieutenant commander of the support division, with 12 years as a jail administrator.

He is a 1969 graduate of Sadie V. Thompson High School, a student at Jackson State University for three and a half years and honorable discharge four years veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He and his wife Shelly (Shirley) Fitzgerald Frazier of 37 years are the parents of two daughters, Jarita Frazier-King and Courtney Frazier, and the grandparents of Gabrielle, Jada, Senia, Keimon and Skylar.

He is a member of the Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church, the Natchez Fraternal Order of Police, Wharlest Jackson Elks Lodge No. 1675, and other civic organizations. And has lived all of his life in Ward 2.

As a former law enforcement officer in Natchez for 32 years, Frazier said he realizes that there is a great need for new and improved ideas to make more progress in the area of economic, education, neighborhoods and street repairs.
