NATCHEZ — Services for Robert Lee Fly Jr., 91, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 24, 2012, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Tidwell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Fly was born March 17, 1921, in Jackson, Tenn., the son of Robert L. Fly Sr. and Ida Horton Fly.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company after 42 years.

Mr. Fly loved to raise tomatoes and vegetables after his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Muriel C. Fly.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Fly and wife, Janice; two grandchildren, Ashley Pitt and husband, Allen, and Sloan Fly; four great-grandchildren, Kendall Fly, Trenton Fly, Frank Allen Pitt and Lucy Mae Pitt, all of Memphis; one brother, Buddy Fly and wife, Rose, of Natchez; his in-laws, James and Ruth Delaney of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Sloan Fly, Allen Pitt, Wayne Holmes, Keith Smith, Jim Hill and Dennis Moritz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Fly, James Delaney and Bill Ray Thorpe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent tot Immanuel Baptist Church, 684 Highway 61 North, Natchez, MS 39120.
