NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Alton W. Jackson, 76, of Natchez, who died Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 3 p.m. today at New Hope Baptist Church in Cranfield with the Rev. Tommy Foster officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Sunday at the church.

Mr. Jackson was born July 10, 1935, the son of Edgar L. Jackson and Mamie Ruth Priest Jackson. He was a retired pipe fitter out of Local 102 Pipe Fitters of Baton Rouge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Melvin Jackson, Carl Jackson and Will Jackson; one sister, Doris Dodge and two sons, Emerson Jackson and David Jackson.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Atkins of Denham Springs, La., and Melissa Jackson of LaPlace, La.; seven sons, Alton Mike Jackson, of Jackson, La., James Jackson of Jonesville, Anthony Jackson of Vidalia, Ronald Jackson of Silver Creek, Donald Jackson of Jackson, La., Brandon Jackson of LaPlace and Jessie Jackson of St. Amant, La.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Jackson, Andrew Jackson, Michael Jackson, Ben Atkins, Dion Jackson and Jimmy Ballard.
