NATCHEZ — The Adams County Board of Supervisors met in executive session Monday to discuss a possible tax incentive package for an industrial development prospect.
Board attorney Scott Slover said a resolution allowing the tax incentives would likely come at a later time, but as of Monday no action was taken.
The board has entered into a confidentiality agreement with the company, Slover said, and information about the company cannot be publicly discussed.
Natchez Inc. Executive Director Chandler Russ said if the prospect locates in Natchez it will be a port-related project which would increase the volume of rail use in the Natchez-Adams County Port tremendously.
“It would have a tremendous long-term benefit on the region,” he said.
The county and the company still have to sign some agreements, but those agreements may be completed within approximately 30 to 45 days, Russ said.
“We have competed with other areas, and we are their selected site at this time,” he said. “Assuming we get all of our i-s dotted and t-s crossed, we should be OK.”
