NATCHEZ — Eight DUI arrests were made in Adams County this weekend as part of a federally funded crackdown on driving under the influence.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop M Public Information Officer Sgt. Rusty Boyd said the MHP participates in a federally funded callback program that pays for troopers to come in on their days off and work an eight-hour shift.
The federal funds come with stipulations on how they can be used, and one of those ways is in DUI crackdowns, Boyd said.
Each callback is assigned to a county, and Saturday night the eight troopers on callback were assigned to Adams County.
The callback DUI checkpoints were on U.S. 61 and Mississippi 555, Boyd said.
