FERRIDAY — The Ferriday teenager who was shot once in the chest Sunday evening near Doty Road died Sunday night.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. David Hedrick said Kenya Cauley, 17, 513 Doty Road, died a few hours after the shooting. He was airlifted from the scene to Rapides Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Cauley was allegedly shot by George Willie Spurs, 66, 153 Earl Davis Road, while the two were reportedly playing a game involving guns, Hedrick said.
Hedrick said sheriff deputies responded to a 911 call at 5:47 p.m. Sunday saying someone had been shot on Doty Road.
“Allegedly, they were playing a game where they point guns at each other,” Hedrick said. “(Spurs) said he intended to shoot over (Cauley’s) head, but ended up shooting him in the chest.”
Cauley was reportedly shot at Spurs’ residence with a 270-bolt action rifle, which police have recovered.
Spurs, who was identified on the scene as the shooter, was arrested Sunday night on a charge of second-degree attempted murder.
Spurs was charged with second-degree murder Monday.
