JONESVILLE — Services for Alfred Roy “Shorty” Turner Jr., 76, of Jonesville, who died Thursday, May 17, 2012, in Jonesville, will be at 1 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home in Jonesville with the Rev. Lester Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at Heard Cemetery in Manifest, La., under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Turner was born April 28, 1936, in Tinsman, Ark., the son of Alfred Roy Turner Sr. and Virginia Ann Turner. He was a retired carpenter and was retired from Delta Fuel.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Ann McCarty Turner; his parents; one stepson, David Smith; five brothers, Claud Turner, Travis Turner, Ralph Turner, Radford Turner and Blann Turner; and two sisters, Fairy O’Mary and Mary Turner.

Survivors include one son, Roy Turner and wife, Bridgette, of Jonesville; one stepson, Donald Smith and wife, Pam, of Olla, La.; one stepdaughter, Joyce Brott of Jonesville; three brothers, Kenneth Turner of Malvern, Ark., Jack Turner of Eldorado, Ark., and Harold Turner and wife, Glenda, of Harrell, Ark.; one sister, Edith Newton of Hampton, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 14-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Darren Smith, Josh Smith, Roy A. Turner, Joesy Dupree, Carl Gaspard and Robert Prudome.
