NATCHEZ — A worried Natchez mother can rest easy now that her son’s name has been cleared after a Natchez teen assumed a false identity upon arrest last week.

According to a Natchez police report, Cedric M. Tenner’s mother was reading The Natchez Democrat last week when she saw her son’s name listed under arrests for the Natchez Police Department.

Natchez Lt. Craig Godbold said Dejuan T. Davis, 18, 2840 Little St., was arrested on a charge of possession or sale of light wine or beer not purchased from licensed or authorized manufacturer or wholesaler on May 10.

Godbold said Davis gave Tenner’s identification information as his own and was later released on bond.

The report states that Tenner came to the police station and talked to an officer about his alleged arrest. The officer pulled the mugshot for Tenner’s alleged arrest last week and noticed that the person arrested was not Tenner.

Tenner identified Davis in the mugshot.

Godbold said the charges against Tenner were dropped and Davis is now facing the original charge of possession or sale of light wine or beer not purchased from licensed or authorized manufacturer or wholesaler as well as a false information charge.
