NATCHEZ — Annie Mae Grennell, 92, of Natchez, died peacefully Monday, June 4, 2012, at her lovely residence.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Clearmount Missionary Baptist Church on Cemetery Road, where she was baptized at an early age and a dedicated member, with the Rev. Michael White officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Grennell was born April 11, 1920, in Natchez, the daughter of Christine Simpson Red and Leroy Miller. She was educated in Natchez and was a graduate of Hughes School of Beauty.

She was married to the late Jonathan Grennell Sr. and to this union one son was born, Jonathan Grennell Jr. Annie Mae and her late husband owned and operated Grennell’s Pine and Woodlawn Service Station and Grennell’s Body Shop; she was a business manager and later retired.

Mrs. Grennell was a member of a number of civic and community organizations including the Elks and Eastern Star.

Survivors include her dedicated and loving son and his wife, Renza; six grandchildren, Jonathan Grennell III, Darryl Grennell, LLjuna Weir and husband, Dante, Ann Heard and husband, Andy, Thomas Grennell and wife, Melodie, and Renza Grennell; six great-grandchildren, Jadtrl, Justin, Jonathan, Jaylan, Austin and Danyel; a special granddaughter-in-law, Gloria Grennell; two sisters-in-law; the Johnson, Simpson, Winston and Grennell families; two goddaughters, Linda Jennings and Gale Williams; one godson, Freddie Simpson Jr.; and a number of relatives near and far.
