NATCHEZ — Services for Dr. Pamela T. Evans-Felder, 55, of Natchez, who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 11, 2012, at Cancer Center of America in Chicago, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles G. Chandler, officiating.

Private burial services will be held under the direction of Bateaste Funeral Home.

Dr. Pam, as she was affectionately called, was born Aug. 1, 1956, in Natchez, the daughter of Albert “Sid” Evans and Yvonne McMorris Evans.

She was educated in the Natchez-Adams School District and upon graduating from high school received an academic scholarship to attend Alcorn State University where she obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees; she later obtained a doctorate from Kansas State University. In 1976, she met the love of her life, Dennis Felder, and united in holy matrimony. To this union, two beautiful children were born. On June 21, 2003, she married Marion Earl Wright.

Pam accepted Christ at an early age in her life and joined the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Natchez. Upon returning to Natchez, she joined the Harvest Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles G. Chandler, where she remained a faithful member, even through failing health.

Dr. Pamela Felder was Professor of special education (full tenure) and director of the Early Childhood Center at Alcorn State University. She dedicated her life to the education profession and had a special heart for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Felder was the author of two books: Black and Beautiful and Lupus: How to Beat it, One Day at a Time. She was a motivational speaker, trainer and author. Her range of experiences included teaching and administrative positions in public schools, colleges and universities. In 1988, she founded Pam’s Unique Technique, a firm that specialized in current educational trends and techniques and motivational instruction. Dr. Felder was invited to share her research “Special Education + Technology = A Winning Combination” at the Global Learn Asia Pacific 2010 Conference in Penang, Malaysia; invited to speak at the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education 21st International Conference in San Diego, and was fortunate to have her proposal to speak at the 2010 European Conference held in Dublin, Ireland, on “TECHNOSPED at Work” approved and accepted by CLUTE Academic Research. Most recently, she was selected as teacher of the year at Alcorn State University.

Pam credited all of her gifts and talents to God first and then to her family, particularly her mother Yvonne, for being a phenomenal example of a successful woman and a guiding force of encouragement and inspiration and her late grandparents, Sam and Elnora McMorris, who were very instrumental in her childhood. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life and served as the catalyst for her resilient drive and determination.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two wonderful and loving children, D’Antwanette Felder and Demetric Felder of Natchez; a loving mother, Mrs. Yvonne Evans; a devoted sister, Anae Evans, both of Chicago, Ill.; two loyal and faithful brothers, Albert “Bobby” Evans of Chicago, and Larry Darnell Evans of Natchez; two adorable grandchildren, De’Norris Sanders and De’Shun Felder, all of Natchez; two stepchildren, Crystal Marionette Wright and Brandon Keon Wright of Natchez; four nieces, including two special nieces, Shawanda Evans Hamilton and TaWanda Johnson; four nephews, including, Jaylon L. Evans, Terrance “Terrio” Evans, and Eric Evans, with whom she had a close and loving relationship; one uncle, Oliver Evans; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Felder and wife, Tina of McComb and Robert Felder and wife, Pamela, of Jackson; three special friends, Ira Young, Linda Joyce H. Griffin, and Diane W. Holmes; and a number of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
