FERRIDAY — Services for Ben Baxter Jr., 62, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riverside Baptist Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Glen Harrigill officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Baxter was born Jan. 7, 1950, in Natchez, the son of Ben Baxter Sr. and Flora Mae Baxter. He worked as an oil filed hand and a commercial fisherman.

Mr. Baxter was an active member of Riverside Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Cowan Baxter.

Survivors include two sisters, Sally Ferry and husband, Sam, of Natchez and Barbara Kimball and husband, Byrl, of Ferriday; two brothers, William Baxter and wife, Myrtle, of Natchez and Mitchell Baxter of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
