NATCHEZ — Natchez police have charged a local woman who is accused of stealing and pawning jewelry she stole from the home of an elderly patient under the woman’s care.

Lt. Craig Godbold said Tangela M. Franklin, 22, 705 Bates Road, was charged Wednesday with grand larceny.

Godbold said Franklin was a caregiver for the elderly with Heart2Heart Homecare Services. Godbold said a family member of one of Franklin’s clients reported missing jewelry from their house.

“As it turns out, jewelry would come up missing each time (Franklin) showed up for work,” Godbold said.

Godbold said police checked with local pawnshops and were able to locate and recover the stolen jewelry.

Franklin has no bond until her arraignment.
