Frank to lead talk on Village archaeology

NATCHEZ — Joseph V. “Smokye” Frank will present an illustrated talk at 6:30 p.m. today at the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians.
His talk is titled, “The 1962 Archaeological Investigations at the Fatherland Site.”
Admission is free, but seating in the museum auditorium is limited.
Frank participated in an archaeological dig at the Grand Village 50 years ago. The team uncovered the remains of the Natchez mounds and sacred structures described in a number of colonial narratives.
In 2005, the Mississippi Archaeological Association presented Frank with the Calvin Brown Award for his outstanding, lifetime commitment to archaeology.
