LORMAN — In a cost saving measure, Alcorn State University has opted to eliminate the administrative position of School of Graduate Studies dean.
The position is currently vacant, but will not be refilled.
The job duties previously handled by the dean will be disbursed to the academic schools and Office of the Provost.
“Students can earn degrees in an academic area, not in graduate studies,” President M. Christopher Brown II said. “We will manage the admission and degree paperwork as a graduate education function, but we do not need to pay someone to dean a unit with no faculty.”
