NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Earline Flowers Carter, 99, of Natchez, who died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at her residence, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joel Haire officiating.
Burial will follow at Carter No. 1 Cemetery in Wilkinson County under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Carter was born Sept. 27, 1912, in Wilkinson County, the daughter of John E. Flowers and Vera Leake Flowers. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she had a strong and unwavering faith in the Lord and she dedicated her life to serving him. Mrs. Carter worked with primary children at her church for 42 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Lee Carter; one son, Malcolm Lee Carter; two sisters, Wilna Scott and Velee Henderson; three brothers, Murel Flowers, Joe Flowers and John E. Flowers Sr.
Survivors include one daughter, Jessie M. Carlisle and husband, Shelby; three sisters, Earnestine Beattle of Baker, La., Thoris Stutzman and Polly Atkins, both of Natchez; one brother, George Flowers of Woodville; three grandsons, Michael L. Carter of Sebastian, Fla., Mark E. Carter of Vidalia and Kevin S. Carlisle of Diamondhead; five great-grandchildren, Mark Carter Jr., Will Carter, Meghan Davis, Nicklous Carter and Eric Carlisle, and one great-great grandchild, Macy Elizabeth Carter.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
