NATCHEZ — Services for L.W. Laird Jr., 86, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Morgantown Baptist Church with Dr. Edgar Wright and the Rev. David Merritt officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday, both at the church.
Mr. Laird was born March 15, 1926, in Lincoln County, the son of Levi Willard Laird Sr. and Edith Earl Sutton Laird. He was a member of Morgantown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent.
Mr. Laird was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee. He was past president of the Mississippi State Barber Board.
Mr. Laird was a Master Mason and a member of Eastern Star, Shrine Club and York Rite for more than 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Phyliss Ranae Laird; and one brother, Charles M. Laird.
Survivors include his wife, Lora Laird; three children, Bruce Laird and wife, Nancy, of Vidalia, Randy Laird and Tammy Jackson and husband, Keith, all of Natchez; five grandchildren, Lindsey Middleton, Wells Middleton, Katelee Laird, Hudson Laird and Isabella Bourque; and one brother, Billy Laird and wife, Kay, of Vidalia.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Laird, Randy Laird, Hudson Laird, Wells Middleton, Keith Jackson, Dicky Laird and Gene Laird.
Memorials may be made to Morgantown Baptist Church, Gideon’s International or to a charity of choice.
